Opportunity:

RN - Cardiovascular Thoracic PCU

Job Details:

* Night shift position with variable days of the week
* Minimum of 5 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule required
* On-call required: 1 day every 6 weeks
* 2 years of experience required
* First-time travelers accepted if experience requirements are met
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS (AHA)
* Charting system: EPIC
* Patient ratios: 1:3 for progressive care population; 1:4 for more acute care population with a maximum of 5
* Scrub color: Navy Blue
* Travelers are floated first to meet facility needs and may float to sister facilities within the South Region
* Provide inpatient management of patients before and after cardiac catheterization procedures, vascular interventions, open-heart surgery, and thoracic surgery
* Common patient populations include those with chest pain, heart failure, arrhythmias, and other cardiovascular and thoracic conditions
* Adults-only patient population
* Required skills include: blood product administration, central line care and management, heparin protocols, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions and PPE, cardiac and vasoactive drip management without titration, titration of cardiac drips, nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration, peripheral line care and management, starting and maintaining IVs, and use of rapid response and code teams
* Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation

This facility is a well-established health system offering a wide range of inpatient and specialty care services. The cardiovascular thoracic progressive care unit operates with a 24-bed capacity and a daily census of 22 patients, reflecting a consistently active and high-acuity environment. The unit is supported by a robust interdisciplinary team and modern technology, ensuring comprehensive patient care across cardiovascular and thoracic specialties.
