Opportunity:

ICU Nights

Job Details:

* Night shift position in the Intensive Care Unit
* Every other weekend required
* 2:1 patient ratio for days, nights, and weekends
* 2 years of ICU experience preferred; first-time travelers welcome
* Cardiac patient population with focus on managing two ventilated patients simultaneously with multiple drip titrations
* Epic charting system experience preferred
* Valid KS or Compact RN license required at time of submission
* Must be located outside a 50-mile local radius
* Floating to like units within scope may be required based on facility needs
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (must be in hand at time of submission)
* Required skills include: arterial line management, ventilator management, cardiac drip titration, vasoactive drip titration, CRRT/CVVHD, central line care and management, blood product administration, BiPAP/CPAP management, and interpretation of dysrhythmias and ABGs
* Special procedures include: open heart recovery, CRRT, Impella, IABP, hypothermia protocols, and insulin drip management
* Special equipment experience needed: Edwards FloTrac, Swan-Ganz, and CRRT
* Mixed ICU/CVICU unit averaging 6-10 cardiovascular cases per month; providers recover their own patients; no ECMO or LVADs
* Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, and rapid response teams
* Patient diagnoses include: ARDS, respiratory distress, AKI, DKA, CABG, and STEMI/NSTEMI

Facility:

This facility operates a 16-bed mixed ICU and CVICU unit with a daily census of approximately 13 patients, serving adult and geriatric populations. The unit is supported by a comprehensive interdisciplinary team and handles complex cardiovascular and critical care cases, including open heart surgery recovery and advanced hemodynamic monitoring. The facility provides robust support services including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
