Job Details:

* 12-hour variable shifts
* 4 weekend shifts per scheduling period (every 4 weeks)
* Patient ratios of 1:3 for days, nights, and weekends
* Must be able to float to other UCSF campuses and facilities
* Travel experience required
* Teaching hospital experience required
* Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience required
* CIWA and EKG Course/Cardiac Rhythm Recognition experience required
* Tracheostomy care expertise required
* BSN required
* California RN license required
* Required certifications: AHA BLS
* Preferred certifications: ACLS, PCCN
* Charting system: Epic (required)
* 2 references from most recent employer required at time of submittal
* All requested time off must be submitted at time of offer; no additional requests accepted mid-contract
* Serve adult and geriatric patient populations with complex medical and socio-economic histories
* Common patient diagnoses include end-stage renal disease, end-stage liver disease, AMS, alcohol use disorder, sepsis, pneumonia, sickle cell, respiratory failure, new onset AFib, and infectious diseases
* Perform Q2H interventions, sometimes Q1H, in a fast-paced environment with frequent ICU transfers and Rapid Response Team involvement
* Respiratory-heavy unit requiring proficiency in trach suctioning/care and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
* Required skills include: arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, central line care, chest tubes, epidural analgesia, heparin protocols, IV insulin protocols, cardiac drip management, peritoneal dialysis, PICC line management, phlebotomy, wound care/wound vac, and substance withdrawal management
* Special equipment includes standard lift equipment, ceiling lifts, Philips bedside monitors, Tele/CPO, and High Flow Nasal Cannula

This is a large academic medical center and teaching hospital offering a comprehensive range of inpatient services. The facility features a 30-bed telemetry unit supported by an extensive interdisciplinary team including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and more. The unit operates at a fast pace with complex patient populations requiring advanced clinical expertise and frequent multi-system interventions.
