Job Details:

* 12-hour variable shifts
* 4 weekend shifts per scheduling period (4 weeks)
* Patient ratio of 3:1 for days, nights, and weekends
* Must be able to float to other UCSF campuses and facilities
* Travel experience required
* Teaching hospital experience required
* Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience required
* CIWA and EKG Course/Cardiac Rhythm Recognition experience required
* Tracheostomy care expertise required
* BSN required
* California RN license required
* Epic charting system experience required
* Required certifications: AHA BLS, ACLS
* Preferred certifications: PCCN
* Care for adult and geriatric patient populations
* Unit census of 30 beds
* Patient diagnoses include end stage renal disease, end stage liver disease, AMS, alcohol use disorder, sepsis, pneumonia, sickle cell, failure to thrive, respiratory failure, acute on chronic pain, cellulitis, complications from cancer, infectious disease workup, and new onset AFib
* Patients present with multiple co-morbidities and complex medical and social histories
* Fast-paced environment with frequent transfers to ICU and rapid response team involvement
* Q2H interventions, sometimes Q1H
* Respiratory-heavy unit including trach suctioning/care and high flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
* Frequent patient movement off unit for procedures and imaging
* Required skills include: accessing/managing ports, arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, central line care/management, chest tubes, epidural analgesia, feeding tube care and management, heparin protocols, HFNC, ABG interpretation, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, isolation precautions/PPE, IV insulin protocols, cardiac drip management, peripheral line care/management, phlebotomy, PICC line management, pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure management, IV insertion and maintenance, substance withdrawal management, surgical drains, telemetry monitoring, tracheostomy care/management, wound care/wound vac
* Special equipment includes standard lift equipment, 2 ceiling lifts, Philips bedside monitors, high flow nasal cannula, and peritoneal dialysis equipment
* Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, lift teams, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation
* All requested time off must be submitted at time of offer; no additional requests accepted mid-contract
* 2 references from most recent employer required at time of submittal

The unit is a fast-paced step-down environment serving patients with complex medical and social histories, with strong support systems in place to ensure quality patient outcomes.
