RN - MICU

Job Details:

* 3x12 day shift schedule
* Weekends required with variable number of weekend shifts per contract
* Guaranteed 60 hours per 2-week period
* Standard patient ratio of 2:1, with potential increase to 4:1 when boarding patients awaiting transfer to inpatient units
* Floating to telemetry units may be required based on census needs
* Care for medically complex, critically ill patients including respiratory failure, cardiac arrest with TTM, multisystem organ failure, various shock states, CVA post tPA, ARDS, DKA, and ETOH withdrawal
* Frequently performed procedures include bedside central and arterial line placements, chest tube placement, rapid sequence intubation, para and thoracentesis, and code blue response
* Operate specialized equipment including Zoll intravascular cooling catheter for TTM, Tortoise proning system, Phillips monitors, Drager ventilators, and Zoll defibrillators and transport monitors
* Chart using Epic system; Epic experience required
* Scrub color: any (no reddish orange permitted)
* Parking is facility paid
* Minimum 2 years of experience required with Trauma Level II experience required
* Travel experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and 2 hours of stroke-specific education per year
* Required skills include arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, care of ventilated patients, central line care/management, continuous IV sedation, CVA/acute stroke management, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, ICP monitoring, interpretation of ABGs and dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, and ventilator management
* Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
* 1 CNA per shift available to assist
* Patient population includes adults and geriatrics
* 28-room unit with daily census of 25
* Compact nursing license must be in hand at time of submission
* 2 professional references required covering 1 year within the last 3 years
* Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
