Labor & Delivery RN
Job Details:
* Work 12-hour shifts: 0700-1930 or 1900-0730
* Minimum 2 years Labor & Delivery experience required
* Must have completed at least 1 assignment at a facility comparable in size and acuity
* Weekend rotation: work at least 4 out of 8 weekend shifts per schedule (could be back-to-back)
* Holiday rotation required
* No call required, though call shifts may be available for pickup
* Patient ratios: Cervical Ripening 1:1-3, Laboring 1:1-3, Active Labor 1:1, Couplet/Postpartum/Antepartum 3 couplets or 3 Antepartum/NICU moms
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, Intermediate or Advanced FHM, MOAB
* Skills include: titrate Pitocin, fetal scalp electrodes, cervical exams, assist with epidural placement, manage insulin and magnesium drips, shoulder dystocia management, circulate c-sections, neonatal resuscitation, newborn care, and lactation support
* May float to Mother Baby for Antepartum, Postpartum, or occasionally Mother-Baby care
* 3-day orientation includes HR/preceptor day, OR training/PACU day, and preceptor day on assigned shift
* Navy scrubs provided on-site with 6 credits for scrub machine

* EMR system: Cerner with fetal link technology
Facility:
This healthcare facility operates a Level III NICU and Newborn Nursery, serving as one of only two NICU facilities in Maine. The facility handles approximately 1800 deliveries per year and covers a large geographical area with extensive referrals. The labor and delivery unit features 7 labor rooms, 2 triage rooms, 2 OR suites, and 25 postpartum/antepartum/mother-baby beds. The facility maintains 24/7 coverage with comprehensive support services including anesthesia, respiratory therapy, OB providers, and certified midwives, and operates as a goal designated safe sleep facility with a rooming-in model for mother-baby care.
