TRAVEL - RN - PCU (612)

Job Details:

* Work 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
* Located on Surgical Transplant unit 5A in A Tower, with the department physically split between the 5th and 6th floors
* Unit has 34 beds with approximately 45 staff members
* Patient ratios of 1:4-5, with occasional flex to 1:6 for Med/Surg overflow; travelers must be prepared to manage ratios of 1:5 or 1:6
* Minimum 1 year of acute care hospital Stepdown/PCU experience required
* Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
* Experience with solid organ transplant (kidney, liver, or pancreas) preferred
* Experience with higher oxygen delivery/respiratory support modalities (Vapotherm/BiPAP/CPAP) preferred
* Knowledge of chest tube management and care preferred
* Experience with tracheostomy management and care preferred
* Experience with NG/Dobhoff placement and management preferred
* Experience managing DKA patients and insulin drips preferred
* Strong critical thinking skills for identifying decompensating patients (e.g., sepsis) preferred
* EMR system: Meditech
* Equipment includes bladder scanner, Mobilabs for lab specimen labeling, EKG machine, AccuVein, Virtual Sitter Cameras, WOWs, Hoyer Lift, Sara Steady Lift, Sit to Stand Lift, Cortrak Machine, and Ultrasound Guided PIV Machine
* Typical procedures include wound/drain care, frequent lab draws from central lines, transfusing blood products, use of two-point soft physical restraints, NICOM monitoring, continuous bladder irrigation (CBI), and plasmapheresis in partnership with HD/infusion nurse
* Experience with heparin drips, PCAs, epidurals, cardiac arrhythmias, anti-arrhythmic drips, central line care, reading telemetry strips, and strong infection prevention practices for immunocompromised patients required
* Ideal candidate is reliable, adaptable, flexible, a fast learner, comfortable in a fast-paced environment, and a strong team player
