Opportunity:
RN - Cardiac PCU
Job Details:
* Minimum 2 years of experience required; travel experience required
* First-time travelers will not be accepted for this position
* Floating required to like units - must be flexible
* Every other weekend required
* Patient ratio is 1:4 across the board (can be 1:5 at midnight); 3:1 for high acuity and special procedures
* Care for adults and geriatric patient populations
* Manage patients with myocardial infarction, rule out MI, primary arrhythmias, coronary artery disease, heart failure, and stroke patients with cardiac involvement
* Care for pre/post open-heart surgery patients and vascular surgery patients, including chest tubes and sternal precautions
* Care for pre/post cath lab patients with or without interventions
* Provide specialized structural heart support including VAD and TAVR
* Perform telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
* Administer blood and blood products
* Perform cardioversion, defibrillation, and epicardial pacer management
* Manage LVAD and open heart post-op patients within 24-28 hours
* Perform breathing treatments, chest tube set-up and care, CPAP/BiPap, and trach care
* Manage stable cardiac drips including Heparin, Insulin, Amiodarone, Antiarrhythmics, Beta Blockers, Cardizem, Hydralazine, Ketamine, Lasix, Nicardipine, Nitroglycerin, and Levophed
* Must have surgical telemetry experience including open heart surgery, vascular (groin) and radial band management, and strong IV skills
* VAD and TAVR experience preferred but optional
* Epic experience is a hard stop requirement
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
* Compact license must be in hand at time of submission
* Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
Facility:
This facility operates a specialized Cardiac Progressive Care Unit with 36 beds and a daily census of 32 patients. The unit provides comprehensive cardiac care including pre and post-operative open heart surgery, vascular surgery, cath lab interventions, and specialized structural heart support. A robust interdisciplinary team is available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and more to support patient care needs.
