Opportunity:

RN - CVICU

Job Details:

* Every other weekend requirement with holiday coverage required (must work 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays per unit needs)
* Patient ratios of 1:1 to 1:2+ for days, nights, and weekends
* Required to float to all ICUs, PACU ICU holds, ED ICU holds, and Cardiac IMC units within skillset without exception
* Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
* Wear navy blue scrubs
* EPIC charting system experience required
* Active NJ or Compact license required at time of submission
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
* Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU experience required; SICU experience may be considered if initial training was completed in a CVICU
* Must have experience with fresh post-op cardiac cases including CABG, MVR, AVR, and TAVR
* Must have experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT using PrisMax
* IV therapy skills required: A-lines, blood product administration, central/PICC lines, starting IVs, continuous IV paralytics/neuromuscular blockade and sedation, emergency medications, procedural sedation administration and monitoring, titrating cardiac/vasoactive drips, and IV insulin protocols
* Respiratory and thoracic skills required: chest tube insertion/removal, BiPAP/CPAP, ventilated patient care, HFNC, ABGs, suctioning (ETT, NT), and ventilator management
* Cardiovascular skills required: CABG, cardiac surgery (directly and not directly from the OR), TAVR, valve repair/replacement, post-op open heart recovery, temporary pacers, FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and 12-lead EKG
* Renal and neurological skills required: chronic/acute renal failure, CVVHD/CRRT, CVA/acute stroke, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, and lumbar drains
* General clinical skills required: multisystem organ dysfunction/failure management, infection prevention, isolation precautions/PPE, and phlebotomy
* Patients served include adults and geriatrics
* Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and unit secretary

Facility:

This facility is a 628-bed academic Level I Trauma Center affiliated with a major university. The CVICU specializes in caring for patients requiring cardiac surgery, heart transplantation, ventricular assist devices, TAVR, and ECMO. The facility's Heart, Vascular, and Thoracic program was the first in New Jersey to achieve Comprehensive Cardiac Center accreditation through The Joint Commission and American Heart Association, providing CABG, valve, and aortic surgery. The facility is part of New Jersey's largest integrated healthcare system.
