Opportunity:
RN BMT/ONC (10000205 - Cellular Therapies Unit)
Job Details:
* Night shift position with various days of the week
* Weekend shifts required based on unit needs
* No on-call required
* Nurse-to-patient ratio of 3-4:1; ratios may flex up based on staffing and unit needs
* 51-bed unit caring for patients with blood cancers receiving chemo/biotherapies and cellular therapies such as stem cell transplants and CAR-T
* Float between BMT/Oncology and Cellular Therapies Unit (CTU) as needed; may also float to sister facilities within the metro region based on facility needs
* Charting system: Epic experience required
* Scrub color: Navy
* Minimum 2 years of acute care BMT/Heme experience and chemotherapy administration experience required
* Travel experience required
* Required certifications: AHA BLS, ONC certification, CO or Compact RN License, Chemo (ONS/ONCC)
* Must be comfortable working in environments with flexible staffing ratios
* Key skills required include: administration of chemotherapy (IV push, continuous infusion, oral), CAR-T therapy, stem cell therapies, bone marrow administration, central line care and blood draws, care and management of ports, administration of blood and blood products, neutropenic precautions, management/disposal of cytotoxic spills, monitoring chemotherapy, body fluid handling post-chemotherapy, and recognition of abnormal lab values
* Additional clinical competencies include: acute tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, graft-versus-host disease, sepsis, hemorrhage, altered mental status, edema, nausea/vomiting, neuropathy, dysphagia, extravasation injury, spinal cord compression, constipation/diarrhea, chest tube care and management, leukemia/blood dyscrasias, lymphoma/non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and inpatient oncology
