Opportunity:

RN - CCU

Job Details:

* Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
* Every other weekend required with occasional exceptions based on staffing needs
* Holidays are typically covered, but days before and after holidays may be required
* No on-call or standby requirement
* Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2, occasionally 1:1 in an 18-bed unit
* Must be open to floating to similar units as first priority
* No self-scheduling - travelers fill in open shifts to meet unit needs, with attempts to accommodate schedule requests when possible
* Two 12-hour shifts of unit-specific orientation provided
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
* EPIC documentation system required
* Experience with ventilators, managing pressors, and hemodynamics required (PAC, CVP, arterial lines)
* Must be proficient with sheaths, IABP, Impella, and CRRT
* Experience with paralytic and sedation management including BIS and TOF monitoring required
* Must be capable of titrating drips including epinephrine, norepinephrine, vasopressin, dobutamine, milrinone, amiodarone, and cardene
* Ventilator troubleshooting required, including ability to intervene in emergency situations such as self-extubation or trach dislodgement
* Must be able to suction competently and identify issues requiring escalation
* RNs are required to interpret their own cardiac monitor strips using HP monitors
* Common patient diagnoses include heart failure, STEMI, pulmonary emboli, arrhythmias, and MICU overflow
* Dress code: teal tops and bottoms, solid or coordinating non-terrycloth jackets
* Minimum 3+ years of experience, previous travel experience, and background in a high-volume hospital strongly preferred
* Daily parking available on and off campus ranging from $95 to $120 per month with a monthly pass

Facility:

This large, busy Level 1 Trauma Center operates a high-acuity cardiac care unit supported by a CCU fellow available 24/7, respiratory therapy staff on-site around the clock, and intensivist-managed care for MICU patients. The unit provides comprehensive critical care services including advanced hemodynamic monitoring and mechanical circulatory support, maintaining a strong multidisciplinary care team to support complex cardiovascular and critical care patients.
