Opportunity:

Phlebotomy Lead/Coordinator

Job Details:

* Day shift position working 5 x 8-hour shifts
* Start times vary but generally begin around 7:00 AM
* Days will be consecutive
* 5 years of experience preferred
* Minimum 2 years of recent phlebotomy experience required
* Three years of phlebotomy experience in an acute care environment preferred
* EPIC experience required
* CPT 1 (Certified Phlebotomy Technician) license required
* Current BLS certification required
* Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience preferred
* Obtain blood specimens by venipuncture or skin puncture according to policy and procedure
* Receive, prepare, and process various types of body fluids and specimens for testing
* Complete specimen accessioning activities including receiving, sorting, labeling, and processing specimens
* Enter specimen information into the Laboratory Information System
* Process specimens including mixing and centrifuge operation while maintaining specimen integrity
* Assess specimen conditions and ensure proper storage, direction, and disposal
* Print reports and logs, evaluate and follow up on discrepancies to ensure all specimens are accounted for
* Organize and coordinate overall operations of the clinical laboratory phlebotomy and processing area
* Manage staffing and work assignments for phlebotomists, laboratory assistants, and interns
* Direct, implement, and update policies, procedures, and protocols to streamline workflow and improve efficiency
* Ensure timely delivery of accurate phlebotomy procedures
* Serve as liaison between phlebotomy, laboratory, physicians, patients, family, and other hospital staff
* Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures
