Opportunity:
Clinical Laboratory Scientist
Job Details:
* 4x10 schedule, day shift with variable start times around 8:00 AM
* Perform a wide variety of clinical laboratory tests on various biological specimens
* Work in core laboratory with some STAT microbiology responsibilities
* Prioritize lab orders according to type including STAT, ASAP, routine, and timed studies
* Perform testing across multiple disciplines including chemistry, coagulation, hematology, special chemistry, urinalysis, blood bank, serology, immunology, bacteriology, microbiology, and referral testing
* Employ positive patient identification procedures to ensure specimen integrity throughout pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical testing
* Perform proper specimen collection including phlebotomy procedures as necessary, labeling, handling, preservation, processing, transportation, and storage
* Perform, evaluate, and document quality control checks
* Review and evaluate validity and accuracy of test results, recognizing interdependency of tests and physiological conditions affecting results
* Correlate test results with diagnoses and question incompatible results
* Document and communicate test results, expediting all critical values
* Train and supervise trainees, laboratory assistants, and clerks as needed
* EPIC experience required
* Minimum two years of recent clinical laboratory experience required
* Bachelor's Degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, biological sciences, chemical sciences, or allied health technologies required
* Valid Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license in California required
* Current BLS certification required
* Current certification from American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or National Credentialing Agency for Labs (NCA) preferred
