RN - L&D/PP

Job Details:

* Work 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
* Every other weekend requirement
* First to float status applies
* Float to postpartum required for L&D nurses; postpartum nurses will NOT float to L&D
* 3-shift floor-specific orientation provided
* No on-call requirement; may be required to be on standby
* Holidays worked in rotation with permanent staff
* Patient ratios: 2:1 for laboring patients following AWOHNN guidelines; 1:4 for couplet care
* Required to circulate for C-sections; scrubbing experience preferred
* Common patient diagnoses include any gestational age, antepartum, high-risk deliveries, substance abuse, pre-eclampsia, and insulin-dependent diabetics
* Unit includes 14 L&D beds, 6 triage beds, 2 OR suites, and 28 postpartum beds with approximately 250 births per month
* EMR system: Cerner
* Fetal monitoring system: Fetal Link
* Telemetry system: Phillips
* OB tech support available on both day and night shifts
* Respiratory therapy and pharmacy available 24/7
* Scrub color: Navy for postpartum nurses; seal blue (provided) for L&D nurses and OB techs
* BSN not required
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AWHONN), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
* Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or up to 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks

This acute care facility operates a dedicated Labor & Delivery and Postpartum unit providing comprehensive obstetric care. The unit is equipped to handle a high volume of deliveries, including high-risk pregnancies and complex cases, supported by OB technicians, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy services available around the clock. The facility maintains a structured staffing model with charge nurses and follows AWHONN guidelines to ensure quality patient care.
