Respiratory Therapist

Job Details:

* Perform accurate and complete respiratory assessments of patients including initial screenings and age, culture, and psychosocially appropriate pain assessments
* Determine treatment requirements including type, method, and duration of therapy, precautions, medications, and dosages in accordance with physician orders
* Monitor patient physiological responses to therapy including vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes
* Prepare and administer medications based on patient age and clinical condition with knowledge of respiratory medications, outcomes, and side effects
* Conduct tests such as holter monitoring, cardiac monitoring, and lung capacity tests to evaluate cardiopulmonary function
* Maintain and calibrate respiratory care equipment and complete routine daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning
* Complete accurate and timely documentation in both electronic and chart form
* Formulate and evaluate patient and family teaching plans including pain management education and discharge planning
* Utilize established hand-off communication protocols and comply with all safety procedures
* Participate in performance improvement activities
* Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience preferred
* Strong computer skills with ability to navigate EMR programs required
* Required certifications: Illinois Respiratory Therapist License, BLS, ACLS, NRP, PALS
