Med/Surg Oncology RN

Job Details:

* Minimum 3 years of experience required
* BSN required
* Patient ratio of 3:1 on days, nights, and weekends
* Weekend and float shifts required
* 36-hour orientation
* Serves patient age groups including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
* Caribbean blue scrubs required (not provided)
* Pyxis medication system used for medication management
* EPIC documentation system required
* SBAR communication standards required
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, Chemotherapy Certification (ONS/ONCC) - must have certification in hand, no pending
* Required skills and experience include: Inpatient oncology; care of patients with bladder, kidney, breast, colorectal, liver, lung, ovarian/uterine, pancreatic, and prostate cancer; administration of chemotherapy; body fluid handling post-chemotherapy; continuous infusion of chemotherapy; IV push administration of chemotherapy; management and disposal of cytotoxic spills; monitoring chemotherapy; oral administration of chemotherapy; recognizing and communicating abnormal lab values; antibiotics; antiemetics; antitumor medications; corticosteroids; hormonal therapy; Neupogen; and post-surgical care
* Preferred skills and experience include: Biotherapy including active immunotherapy, administration of interferons and interleukins, and cytotoxic therapy; administration of bone marrow; graft rejection and graft-versus-host disease management; stem cell therapies; care of patients with brain, E/N/T, leukemia/blood dyscrasias, lymphoma/non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, melanoma, and multiple myeloma; IV therapy and infusions; acute tumor lysis syndrome; anaphylaxis; extravasation injury; hemorrhage; sepsis; spinal cord compression; pain management; care coordination; chest tube care and management; colostomy/ileostomy management; Foley catheter insertion and management; interpretation of dysrhythmias; isolation precautions and PPE; neutropenic precautions; phlebotomy; telephone triage; tracheostomy care and management; wound care; advanced directives; hospice care; patient and family education and support; pediatric team collaboration; withholding and withdrawing treatment; radiation therapy; and symptom management
