General Neuro Unit
Job Details:
* 3x12-hour night shifts
* Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
* Travel experience preferred
* Charting system: Epic (experience required)
* Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS
* Patient ratio of 1:6 on days, nights, and weekends
* Half of contract weekends required
* Care for adult and geriatric patient populations
* Patients include those with neurological and neurosurgical diagnoses including acute ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, transient ischemic attacks (TIA), seizure disorders, and traumatic brain injury, as well as medical and surgical patients
* Unit equipped with continuous telemetry and pulse oximetry monitoring
* Required skills include: blood product administration, CVA management, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, heparin administration, PICC line management, peripheral line care, PCA, pre/post neurosurgery care, spinal cord injury care, traumatic brain injury care, telemetry monitoring, feeding tube care, and use of rapid response/code teams
* Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams
Facility:
This facility operates a 19-bed private room medical-surgical unit specializing in neurological and stroke-related care. The unit is equipped with continuous telemetry and pulse oximetry monitoring to support early recognition of changes in patient condition. The interdisciplinary team is committed to providing evidence-based, patient-centered care focused on neurological assessment, stroke recovery, secondary stroke prevention, and optimizing functional outcomes.
