RN - NICU

Job Details:

* 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
* 4 weekend shifts required in a 4-week schedule (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday considered weekend for nights)
* Holiday rotation worked in with permanent staff
* Self-scheduling with scheduler review to balance unit needs
* Level II NICU experience required (Level III preferred) with minimum 2 years of recent experience within the past 6 months
* Pass/fail Simulation Lab assessment for foley catheter insertion required on Day 1 of orientation
* 2-shift orientation with a preceptor provided
* Required certifications: BLS and NRP; STABLE certification preferred
* Patient ratios: NICU 2:1, Special Care Nursery 3:1
* May serve as charge nurse on occasion based on census
* Will float to sister facility
* Travelers will not be floated out of the NICU
* Care for NICU patients 28 weeks and above with high-level respiratory complications including vents, CPAP, RAM, and Vapotherm nasal cannulas
* Common diagnoses include hyperbilirubinemia, meconium aspiration, respiratory distress syndrome, PPHN, IUGR, chorioamnionitis, TTN, sepsis, chest tubes, passive cooling, exchange transfusions, PICC lines, UAC, and UVC
* Special Care Nursery patients include lower-level NICU diagnoses, CPAP, blood transfusions, and Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome
* Equipment includes GE Monitors, Puritan Bennett 840, Draeger, Vision BiPAP, and V60 ventilators
* Charting system: Cerner
* Scrub color: Navy

This acute care Level I Trauma facility features a 12-bed private room NICU and an 18-bed Special Care Nursery organized in a POD-based layout. The unit is supported by NNPs available 24/7, a daytime Neonatologist, respiratory therapy around the clock to manage ventilators, and a 24/7 pharmacy with a tube system located adjacent to the NICU. The facility provides a highly collaborative care environment with robust specialty support services.
