Job Details:
* 12-hour night shifts
* Weekend coverage required with 4 weekend shifts per biweekly period
* Patient ratio of 4:1 for days, nights, and weekends
* Float required within SFMH facilities
* May be reassigned to a different department, unit, or facility during assignment
* 2 years of emergency department experience required
* BSN required
* Prior travel experience within 12 months required
* Prior teaching hospital experience preferred
* Must have experience working at a fast-paced, inner-city hospital
* Epic charting system experience required
* Cerner proficiency preferred
* Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
* Required certifications: CA RN License, AHA BLS, PALS, ACLS, TNCC
* Preferred certifications: CEN
* Required skills include: BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, care of ventilated patients, chest tube insertion/management, CVA management, emergency medications, general emergency department combined adult/pediatric care, interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs), interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, intubation, isolation precautions/PPE, Level II Trauma Center, management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, 12-lead EKG/ECG, phlebotomy, procedural sedation administration/monitoring, starting and maintaining IVs, and triage
* Treat patients across all age groups including infants, adolescents, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics
* Common patient diagnoses include stroke, STEMI, cardiac and respiratory arrest, DKA, abdominal pain, and orthopedic issues
* Interdisciplinary support available including respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and unit secretary
Facility:
This facility is a fast-paced, inner-city academic medical center offering comprehensive emergency department services. The emergency department features 16 beds across 9 rooms with a daily census of approximately 40 patients. The facility provides robust interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, radiology, rapid response teams, and social services, and operates as a Level II Trauma Center with preferred experience in Level I Trauma care.
