General Neuro Unit

Job Details:

* 3x12 hour night shifts
* Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
* Travel experience preferred
* Charting system: Epic (required)
* Required certifications: NIHSS, BLS
* Patient ratio: 1:6
* Care for adult and geriatric patients ranging from young adult through geriatric age groups
* Provide medical-surgical level monitoring, interventions, and specialized neurological care
* Manage patients with acute ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, TIA, seizure disorders, traumatic brain injury, and other neurological and neurosurgical diagnoses
* Utilize continuous telemetry and pulse oximetry monitoring
* Required skills include: blood product administration, CVA management, heparin and insulin administration, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, PICC line management, peripheral line care, pre/post neurosurgery care, spinal cord injury care, traumatic brain injury care, telemetry monitoring, PCA, feeding tube care and management, continuous bladder irrigation, and use of rapid response/code teams
* Weekend shifts required - approximately half of contract
* No call required
* Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams

This facility's 3 South unit is a 19-bed private room medical-surgical unit specializing in the care of patients with neurological and stroke-related conditions. The unit is equipped with continuous telemetry and pulse oximetry monitoring to support early recognition of changes in patient condition. The interdisciplinary team is committed to providing evidence-based, patient-centered care focused on neurological assessment, stroke recovery, secondary stroke prevention, and optimizing functional outcomes.
