Opportunity:
Main Hospital PACU
Job Details:
* 3 scheduled shifts and 1 call shift per week (4 total)
* 12-hour shifts with start times varying from 7:30 AM to 10:30 AM
* Pre-op start times can be as early as 6:00 AM
* On-call requirement: must be able to report to PACU within 30 minutes when on call
* California license required and must be in hand
* Education: ADN required
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS
* Minimum 2-3 years of PACU/Critical Care experience with adults and pediatrics required
* Pre-op experience required
* Proficiency in monitoring vital signs, level of consciousness, and pain management post-anesthesia
* Knowledge of administering and titrating medications including pain management and anesthesia reversal agents
* Ability to recognize and respond to airway complications
* Competence in starting and managing IV lines including administering fluids and medications
* Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and accurate documentation of patient progress and interventions
* Experience caring for patients after major surgeries including general, vascular, neuro, orthopedic, and trauma surgeries
* Patients served include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
* Strict dress code enforced: no facial hair, no acrylic nails, no unnatural hair colors, all tattoos must be covered, no visible body piercings other than earrings, no facial or nose rings, and earrings may not extend beyond the earlobe or be hoop earrings

This facility is a main hospital offering a comprehensive post-anesthesia care unit that supports a wide range of surgical specialties including general, vascular, neurological, orthopedic, and trauma surgery. The unit provides Phase I and Phase II recovery care and maintains high standards for patient monitoring and post-operative management. The organization is committed to quality care across multiple patient age groups and supports staff with interdisciplinary resources and structured orientation.
