RN - Medical Surgical

Job Details:

* 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
* Day shift requires 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule plus 1 major and 1 minor holiday
* Weekend requirement includes days (Saturday, Sunday) and nights (Friday, Saturday)
* First to float policy applies
* Patient ratio of 1:4 on both days and nights
* 30-bed Medical-Surgical unit with general and ortho trauma stepdown patients
* Float to MedSurg Tele C5 and B2C as needed
* 2-shift floor-specific orientation provided
* Minimum 2 years of recent experience required (within the past 6 months)
* Must be able to read cardiac strips
* Dysrhythmia exam required prior to start with a maximum of 2 attempts, completed within 48 hours of offer
* Pass/fail Sim Lab on day one of orientation (study guides provided)
* Required certifications: ACLS and BLS
* BSN not required
* Scrub color: Navy
* Charting system: Cerner
* GE Monitors used with central monitoring station tech available to read
* Common patient diagnoses include chest tubes, drains, wound vacs, Amio and Cardizem titration, and peritoneal dialysis
* PCTs available on days; 1 PCT or SWAT RN available at night for tasks
* House SWAT Nurse available for difficult IV sticks
* Respiratory therapy available 24/7
* Pharmacy available 24/7 with ICU Pharmacist covering days
* Spectralink phones with call light attached used for communication
* Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks

The facility features a well-supported Medical-Surgical unit with access to around-the-clock respiratory therapy and pharmacy services, a central monitoring station, and dedicated charge nurses and unit supervisors.
