Opportunity:

RN - Stepdown/PCU

Job Details:

* 12-hour day shifts from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
* Every other weekend requirement
* May be asked to participate in holiday rotation
* No on-call or standby requirement
* Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-6 depending on acuity
* Must have a minimum of 2 years of Stepdown/PCU experience
* Must be comfortable with cardiac monitoring and cardiac drips
* Required to titrate drips including cardizem, amio, nitro, heparin, dopamine, dobutamine, and angiomax
* Common patient diagnoses include cardiac patients, post-pneumonia, post-cath lab, seizures, ETOH/CIWA protocols, and pacemaker management
* Required to read, interpret, and document telemetry strips and identify rhythms
* Expected to troubleshoot respiratory equipment including BiPAP, AirVo, and trachs as appropriate
* Travelers may be floated to any inpatient unit and are first to float
* Scrub color/dress code: Navy Blue
* Charting system: Cerner
* Orientation includes 2 days of general orientation and 1 day with a preceptor
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS
* Valid driver's license copy must be submitted with application
* Any licensing hits must be disclosed at time of submission

Facility:

This acute care facility operates a 30-bed Stepdown/PCU unit with a strong focus on cardiac and progressive care patients. The unit is supported by charge nurses on every shift, nurse aides and patient care techs, monitor technicians available 24/7, and respiratory therapists assigned directly to the unit. Hospitalist and nocturnist coverage is available for the entire hospital overnight, ensuring continuous physician support for patients and nursing staff.
