RN - Med/Surg Tele
Job Details:
* Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts per week
* Patient ratio of 1:6 on days, nights, and weekends
* Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
* Travel experience preferred
* Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS
* Charting system: Epic (experience required)
* Care for adult and geriatric patients ranging from young adult through geriatric age groups
* Priority admission patients requiring medical-surgical level monitoring, interventions, and care
* Patient population includes medical and surgical patients with neurology or neurosurgical diagnoses, acute ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, TIA, seizure disorders, and traumatic brain injury
* Unit equipped with continuous telemetry and pulse oximetry monitoring
* Required skills include: blood product administration, telemetry monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, heparin, PCA, PICC line management, peripheral line care, pre/post neurosurgery, CVA care, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, feeding tube care, continuous bladder irrigation, and use of rapid response/code teams
* Half of contract shifts include weekend coverage
* Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams

This facility is a medical center featuring a dedicated 19-bed private room medical-surgical unit specializing in neurological and stroke-related care. The unit provides evidence-based, patient-centered care focused on neurological assessment, stroke recovery, secondary stroke prevention, and optimizing functional outcomes. The facility offers comprehensive interdisciplinary support services including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, phlebotomy, and rapid response teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
