Opportunity:

Surgical Technician

Job Details:

* Work 4x10-hour shifts Monday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 6:45 AM to 5:15 PM
* 40 guaranteed hours per week
* No on-call requirements
* 2 years of experience required in OR and Trauma settings
* Prior travel experience required
* Required certifications: Current BLS certification by the American Heart Association
* No license required
* Serve a patient population including adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
* Responsible for supplying the operating room with proper equipment and instrumentation for specific surgeries
* Maintain sterility of the surgical field and anticipate the needs of surgeons, passing instruments in a timely fashion
* May perform duties including sponge or suction, holding retractors, applying electrocautery, irrigation, cutting suture material, connecting drains, and applying wound dressings
* Responsible for care of instrumentation and equipment and preparing for following cases after procedures are completed
* Provide assistance needed to expedite room turnover for optimal service to surgeons, patients, anesthesiologists, and co-workers
* Must stay current with rapid changes in medical procedures, technical knowledge, instrumentation, and equipment
* May be required to float to meet organizational needs up to competency level
* May be required to work major holidays and pick up one additional shift during the schedule period
* Schedule varies based on department needs and can include weekends, holidays, and some call shifts

Facility:

This facility is an extremely busy and fast-paced medical center serving a 500-mile radius. It operates as a Level II Trauma Center with stroke accreditation, featuring 800 inpatient beds and 80 emergency room beds, with a volume and pace comparable to a Level I trauma center. The facility is the only trauma center between Sacramento and Salt Lake City, treating over 80,000 ER and trauma patients annually, and is home to a children's hospital, a robotic surgery institute, and comprehensive heart, cancer, brain, and nerve care services.
