Opportunity:
RN - Trauma, Ortho, Surgical
Job Details:
* 12-hour night shifts required
* 4 total weekend shifts per 4-week period
* Holidays worked based on unit coverage and rotated with permanent staff
* 30-bed Trauma, Ortho, and Surgical unit
* Patient ratio of 1:4-5
* Level 1 Trauma experience required
* Minimum 2 years of Telemetry experience required
* BSN not required
* Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS
* Charting system: Cerner
* Telemetry equipment: Phillips
* Ventilator experience with BiPAP and CPAP required
* SWAT RN (IV Team) available on unit
* Respiratory therapy and pharmacy support available 24/7
* Common patient diagnoses include post-op day 1 transplants, Whipple procedures, spine surgeries, orthopedic joints, and trauma cases
* Unit has a high volume of transplant and Whipple patients
* Floor-specific orientation consists of 2 shifts
* First to float to MS/Tele, possibly sister campuses
* Scrub color: Navy
* Must have natural hair color and no facial piercings
* Men must be clean shaven for fit test
* Must pass dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance (2 attempts allowed)
* Day 1 orientation includes a pass/fail SIMs Lab covering Foley catheter insertion and port-a-cath insertion; nurses are expected to demonstrate competency in maintaining sterile field
* Must provide a valid driver's license confirming residence within 50-mile radius
* Travel team members must have their own vehicle
* Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks

This acute care facility is a Level 1 Trauma Center offering comprehensive surgical, orthopedic, and trauma services. The facility features a well-supported clinical environment with 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy services, a dedicated charge nurse who does not take patients, and a SWAT RN team available for IV support. The organization maintains high clinical standards and expects all nursing staff to demonstrate proficiency in essential nursing skills, making it an excellent environment for experienced trauma and surgical nurses.
