Job Details:

* Shifts available: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM, and 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM
* Day shift with every other weekend requirement
* Every other holiday requirement
* Self-scheduling based on seniority with manager balancing; block scheduling accommodated when possible
* First to float; floating throughout the hospital as helping hands or 1:1s
* Nurse-to-patient ratios: 3:1 for Adult (up to 7 patients) and 6:1 for Adolescent
* Work with both adolescent and adult psychiatric populations, which may include depression, anxiety, substance abuse, psychosis, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, behavioral or personality disorders, and rare opioid withdrawal
* Acute/inpatient or state hospital experience required
* Strong de-escalation and communication skills required
* Adolescent experience preferred but not required
* Comfortable working in a locked inpatient unit on the 4th floor
* Expected to actively participate in 15-minute rounds and be highly involved in patient care
* Mechanical restraints and seclusion used rarely
* Mental health techs/aides available on unit
* Respiratory therapy available in-house for CPAP, BiPAP, and oxygen support needs
* Charting system: EPIC
* 2 - 12-hour shifts of unit/department specific orientation provided
* Scrub color: Any color except maroon; business casual also acceptable
* Required certifications: BLS, CHI Health Workplace Violence Prevention; CPI preferred
* Cancellation policy: 4 shifts per contract; 3 shifts if contract is under 13 weeks
* Requested time off must be submitted upfront (7 or fewer days per 13-week contract); additional RTO will not be approved

Facility:

This acute care facility is a Trauma Level 2 hospital offering a wide range of inpatient services, including the only child and adolescent inpatient psychiatric unit in the region. The psychiatric unit operates with 25 licensed beds, currently utilizing both adult and adolescent beds, and is supported by a multidisciplinary team including mental health techs, occupational therapy, social work, and in-house respiratory therapy. The facility prioritizes patient safety with robust security measures including emergency buttons, in-hospital security, and additional staff support protocols.
