Job Details:
* Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
* Every other weekend schedule required
* Expected to work some holidays
* No on-call or standby requirements
* Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4
* Scrub color required: Royal Blue
* One 12-hour orientation shift with an experienced ED RN
* Charting system: EPIC
* BSN not required
* Valid driver's license required at time of submittal
* Minimum one year of emergency nursing experience required; 1-2 prior travel assignments preferred
* Behavioral health experience required
* Common patient diagnoses include stroke, STEMI, sepsis, chest pain, psychosis, and behavioral health; rare pediatric cases treated and transferred
* Administer and manage common drips including insulin, cardiac, sedation, and critical drips
* Responsible for drawing labs; phlebotomy available to assist when needed
* RNs responsible for monitoring telemetry alongside monitor technicians using Phillips monitors
* Perform breathing treatments; respiratory therapy paged as needed for advanced equipment management
* Triage experience preferred as travelers may be assigned to triage
* Travelers may be utilized as charge nurse, particularly during night shifts if willing
* Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS
Facility:
This acute care emergency department operates as a STEMI receiving and comprehensive stroke center with 17 beds that can flex up to 22 with hallway beds when staffing allows. The facility features designated psychiatric rooms, 24/7 in-house security stationed within the emergency department, fast track triage capabilities, and both X-ray and CT imaging within the department. The emergency department treats an average of 66 patients per day and is supported by a collaborative team environment where accountability and mutual respect are core values.
