RN - L&D

Job Details:

* Work 12-hour night shifts
* Every 3rd weekend required, with option for every other weekend with block scheduling
* Every other holiday required
* No on-call or standby requirement
* Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
* High risk facility managing all L&D diagnoses including preeclampsia, HELLP, placenta previa, preterm labor, and PROM
* Unit consists of 7 L&D beds, 2 OR suites for C-sections, and 17 postpartum beds with approximately 950-1,000 births per year
* Agency RNs are required to float between LDR, MBU, and Antepartum areas on the same floor
* Responsibilities include admitting, prepping, and recovery of patients in the LDR area; does not circulate for C-sections
* LDR RN manages both mom and baby recovery as there is no dedicated newborn nursery RN
* Required to titrate drips including insulin and oxytocin
* Charge RN does not take an assignment in order to serve as second provider in all deliveries
* OB Techs typically present on each shift
* OB provider in house 24/7, MFM on call, and neonatologist available as needed
* Anesthesia in house 24/7
* EFM system: Corometric EFM via Cerner/Fetalink
* Charting system: Cerner
* Floating may include patient sitter responsibilities throughout the facility or to NICU if trained and comfortable
* Hospital-provided purple scrubs required
* 3-day orientation provided: 1 hospital-specific day and 2 unit-specific days
* Must clock in and out at the facility
* AWHONN guidelines followed for staffing ratios

Facility:

This acute care facility is a Level 2 trauma center offering comprehensive labor and delivery services within a high-risk obstetric environment. The unit is equipped to manage complex maternal diagnoses and operates with 24/7 OB provider coverage, on-call MFM support, and readily available neonatology services. The facility follows AWHONN guidelines for staffing ratios and maintains a collaborative team environment that includes OB Techs and dedicated anesthesia coverage around the clock.
