Opportunity:
RN MS/TELE - transplant and hepatology unit
Job Details:
* Rotating shifts with various days of the week including weekends per unit needs
* No on-call required
* Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5 on days and nights; transplant patients staffed at 2:1 or 3:1 ratios during acute phases of healing
* Weekend patient ratios are 1:5
* 6 weekend shifts required per contract
* 2 years of acute care experience in a high acuity unit required
* BSN preferred
* First-time travelers accepted
* Must be comfortable working in environments with flexible staffing ratios
* Floating required within scope to meet facility needs, including potential float to sister facilities in the Metro region
* Charting system: Epic (preferred experience)
* Scrub color: Navy
* Required certifications: AHA BLS, CPI
* CO or Compact RN license required
* Care for high acuity Solid Organ Transplant, Thoracic Surgery, and Hepatology patient populations
* Patient diagnoses include ESRD, ESLD, thoracic cancers, lung diseases, living organ donors, liver and renal cancers, alcohol use disorders, organ rejection, and general medical diagnoses
* Perform and manage skills including accessing/managing ports, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, central line blood draws, chest tube management, continuous bladder irrigation, feeding tube care, heparin administration, IV insulin protocols, telemetry monitoring, tracheostomy care, wound care/wound vac, and pre/post thoracic surgery care
* Operate and manage special equipment including chest and abdominal drains, chest tubes, wound vacs, mobility equipment, central lines, BiPAP/CPAP, telemetry, and capnography
* Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and unit secretary
* Patient age groups include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
* Up to 2 pre-approved days off per contract; maximum 10 RTO days per 13-week contract

This facility operates a 36-bed surgical unit specializing in highly acute care for Solid Organ Transplant, Thoracic Surgery, and Hepatology patient populations. The transplant program is the only program in the Rocky Mountain region that performs all solid organ transplants, including lung, liver, kidney, and pancreas recipients, as well as liver and kidney donors. Distinguished as the site of the first successful human liver transplant in the world in 1967, this facility continues to lead in innovation and excellence. The Thoracic Surgery program is rated among the top programs in the nation, performing cutting-edge procedures including lobectomies, wedge resections, lung surgeries, and esophagectomies. The facility provides robust interdisciplinary support and is committed to delivering optimal care throughout each patient's continuum of care.
