Opportunity:
Medical Lab Scientist - ER LAB / Taylorsville (FSED)
Job Details:
* Work a 7 on/7 off schedule with 10-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM
* Every other weekend requirement
* 13-week assignment with potential to extend to 26 weeks
* No on-call requirements, though additional hours are available during the 7-off week if desired
* Perform point-of-care testing as a Medical Lab Scientist/Medical Lab Technician
* Willing to perform clerical duties as assigned by Nursing and Lab Director in support of FSED operations
* Conduct daily maintenance, quality control, and calibrations on analyzers and patient testing including waived and nonwaived tests
* Perform specimen processing including ordering tests, centrifuging specimens, preparing send-outs for transport, stocking lab supplies, and routine cleaning of lab surfaces
* Work with equipment including Siemens Dimension EXL, Sysmex 1000, Roche Clineteck, Werfen Top 300, Quidel Triage, Siemens ePOC, Abbott iSTAT, Veritor FLU, Quidel SOFIA, and Aerospray stainer
* Use EPIC EMR system; prior EPIC experience preferred
* Must hold full MLS or MLT certification through ASCP or equivalent - associates level license not accepted
* Minimum 2 years of experience working in a hospital laboratory environment as an MLT or MLS required
* Adherence to standard lab safety protocols as required by CLIA and CAP
* Dress code: pewter-colored scrubs; lab coat will be provided
* Must be able to work independently while communicating professionally with both lab and non-lab clinical staff
Facility:
This facility is a freestanding emergency department (FSED) equipped with 10 treatment rooms and staffed by a team of 8 lab technologists. The department operates around the clock with both day and night shift Medical Lab Scientists and Medical Lab Technicians to support comprehensive emergency care. The lab is well-equipped with modern diagnostic analyzers and utilizes the EPIC electronic medical records system to support efficient and accurate patient care.
