Opportunity:

RN - Psychiatric

Job Details:

* 12-hour shifts required with coverage needed seven days a week including weekends
* 48 hours guaranteed preferred
* Three 12-hour shifts required each day with no guaranteed days off unless specified in contract
* No on-call requirements
* Float between multiple units based on greatest need including ADOL, Serenity, ITU, SRAD, and VINE units
* ADOL unit serves adolescent patients ages 12-18
* Serenity unit is a lower acuity adult unit
* ITU is a higher acuity adult unit serving patients with thought disorder diagnoses
* SRAD unit serves patients living a senior lifestyle
* VINE unit is a lower acuity adult unit
* Patient ratios are 8:1 for nurses and 12:1 for MHTs
* Documentation system: Meditech
* Assess patients' mental health status including recognizing signs of psychiatric disorders, substance use, and behavioral problems
* Develop individualized care plans for patients with mental health and behavioral issues including setting goals, implementing interventions, and evaluating outcomes
* Administer psychiatric medications and monitor for side effects or adverse reactions with knowledge of psychotropic medications required
* Provide crisis intervention and immediate short-term support for patients experiencing suicidal ideation or aggression using de-escalation techniques
* Utilize therapeutic communication skills including active listening and empathy to build trust and rapport with patients
* Monitor patients for physical and psychological symptoms including vital signs, mental status changes, and medication effects
* Follow ICARE values (Integrity, Compassion, Always, Respect) and AIDET communication behaviors
* Required certifications: BLS and Active Blue Card CPI
* Dress code: Nurses wear blue scrubs
