Opportunity:

Echo Sonographer

Job Details:

* 4-day, 10-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM
* Full-time position
* No weekend requirements
* No on-call requirements (though department policy may include on-call coverage for emergency echo exams outside regular working hours)
* High volume hospital - must be able to perform 9 studies per shift
* Perform diagnostic echocardiograms on adult and pediatric patients
* Perform technically proficient 2D, M-mode, and Doppler cardiac exams
* Coordinate activities with interrelated hospital departments including scheduling exams, transporting patients, answering phones, and ensuring accurate billing information
* Assist cardiologist during dictations by preparing and measuring M-modes and providing pertinent diagnostic information
* Respond to patient needs during exams and report changes in patient condition to physician or nurse in charge
* Maintain quality control of equipment operation and quality of examinations performed
* Log patients and exams and file patient records in department
* Participate in Performance Improvement activities at departmental, interdepartmental, and hospital-wide levels
* Order echo supplies and maintain clean, neat, and well-supplied exam rooms
* Stay current on advances in the field of Echocardiography
* Assist with other cardiac procedures as needed
* Minimum 2 years of active echocardiogram experience preferred
* High school diploma or equivalent required; two-year allied health education program preferred
* Required certifications: A.R.D.M.S./CCI registered or registry eligible, or comparable national accreditation
* State of New Mexico Echo Sonographer License required
* BLS certification issued through American Heart Association required
* Must demonstrate strong organizational skills and ability to work at a rapid pace under stressful conditions
* Must be able to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with professionals from a variety of disciplines
