Open Position: RN - PCU Stepdown

Job Details:

* Night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
* Every other weekend requirement
* Every other holiday requirement
* 48-hour shifts available
* First to float when needed
* Unit consists of 32 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5, with occasional 1:5-6 on nights; PCU level care overflow on the unit at 1:3
* Commonly treat adult and geriatric patients including cardiac cath, EP studies, pacers, ETOH, Covid Bipap, general surgical with cardiac history, pneumonia, acute on chronic conditions, influenza, and sepsis
* Required to titrate drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin, Nitro, Nipride, Lasix, and low-dose Dopamine
* Work with RT equipment including BiPap, trachs, and Airvo
* Required to independently read and interpret telemetry strips
* Charge nurse present on both shifts and may occasionally take a light patient load of 2-3 patients
* Nurse aides and patient care techs available with a goal ratio of 1:10
* Telemetry portable monitors, in-room monitors, and a tech at the nurses' station available
* Floating requirements include all areas as helping hands, PCU for full patient load, MS for full patient assignment, and some ER holds/boarding
* 2 orientation shifts of 12 hours each (Friday and Saturday of the first week)
* Any color scrubs permitted
* Charting system: Epic (preferred)
* PCU experience required; ability to read and interpret strips required
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS
* BSN not required
* Rotating shift will not occur more than weekly
* Manager creates schedule; blocked scheduling considered based on unit needs
* Maximum of 7 days of requested time off per 13-week contract must be submitted upfront

Facility:

This acute care facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center offering comprehensive medical and telemetry services. The unit specializes in cardiac and telemetry care, providing PCU-level overflow support and treating a wide variety of adult and geriatric patients. The facility uses Epic as its electronic health record system and maintains a structured, team-oriented environment with charge nurses and patient care technicians available on every shift.
