Opportunity:
Pathologist Assistant
Job Details:
* Work day shifts from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with an unpaid 45-minute lunch break
* 8-week assignment
* No on-call or weekend coverage required
* 0-3 years of related experience in Pathology required
* NYS Licensure as a Pathologist Assistant required
* Bachelor's degree or higher from a Pathologist Assistants program, or equivalent program as determined by NYS Education Department, or Bachelor's degree or higher in a NAACLS accredited Pathologists' Assistant program required
* ASCP - PA certification preferred
* Fellow of the American Association of Pathologists Assistants preferred
* Epic charting system experience preferred
* Perform gross examination and dissection of large/complex specimens and small biopsies
* Assist and train Pathology Residents in gross room techniques
* Perform gross and microscopic photography
* Conduct macroscopic description of gross anatomic features
* Obtain and review patient clinical information including scans, X-rays, and lab results
* Prepare tissues for histological processing
* Perform specimen accessioning, fixation, receipt, and labeling
* Section surgical pathology specimens
* Perform radiography within hospital clinical laboratory setting
