Job Details:
* 12-hour day shifts with staggered start times at 7:30 AM, 8:00 AM, 9:00 AM, or 10:00 AM (subject to change with 2-hour prior notice)
* Every other weekend required
* Call requirement includes typically 2 days during the week, Saturday night, and Sunday day or night on a rotational basis
* Holiday coverage on a rotational basis via call only
* Patient ratio of 2:1
* 15-cubicle unit covering both Phase 1 and Phase 2 recovery; must be knowledgeable of Phase 2 processes including discharge instructions and after-care instructions via Surgi-net
* EMR system: Cerner and Surgi-net
* Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips using GE Spacelabs monitors
* Must know ABGs and be able to work with ventilators (Bayer); RT will maintain but RN must be able to troubleshoot
* Must be able to work with ICP monitors and Align equipment
* Pediatric recovery experience required from day of birth (no neonates)
* Common cases include total joint replacement, hysterectomy, total shoulder, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, D&C, spinal fusion, laminectomy, AV fistula, brain tumor excision, robotics, elective cardioversion, and transesophageal echocardiogram; heavy ortho caseload
* ICU patient recovery may occur in both PACU and ICU settings; call RNs will recover together when needed
* Charge nurse present on each unit; PCAs available and able to draw blood and perform EKGs
* RT, pharmacy, ICU intensivist, and anesthesia coverage available 24/7
* Scrub color: Navy or facility-supplied
* 3-shift orientation covering Surgi-net charting, patient care processes, managing 2 patients simultaneously, critical patient care, and ICU recovery procedures
* Minimum 2 years of recovery or ICU experience required; first-time travelers welcome
* BSN not required
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS; CPAN or CCRN preferred

This acute care facility operates as a Level 2 Trauma Center, providing comprehensive surgical and post-anesthesia care services. The facility features a 15-cubicle PACU unit with dedicated charge nurses and supports a wide range of surgical specialties including orthopedics, neurosurgery, and robotics. Around-the-clock support from intensivists, anesthesiology, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy ensures a well-resourced environment for patient recovery.
