Opportunity:

ECHO/CARDIAC SONOGRAPHER

Job Details:

* Day shift position from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
* Acute care setting with both inpatient and outpatient responsibilities
* Perform inpatient and outpatient adult transthoracic echocardiograms (TTEs) and transesophageal echocardiograms (TEEs)
* Perform outpatient stress echocardiograms and dobutamine stress echocardiograms
* Perform inpatient and outpatient pediatric echocardiograms (low volume)
* Conduct two-dimensional and M-mode echocardiography with color flow Doppler (adult and pediatric) in accordance with IAC standards
* Perform pulsed and continuous wave echo Doppler studies
* Take accurate measurements and calculations of echo/Doppler recordings
* Set up and assist with transesophageal echocardiograms
* Inject echo contrast agents and acquire corresponding contrast images
* Perform digital archival and retrieval of studies using CPACS system (Merge)
* Complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner in Meditech EMR
* Average of 6-7 exams per 8-hour shift
* Rotate on-call and standby with other sonographers
* Weekend call rotation shared equitably among sonographers - weekend call begins at end of shift Friday through 7:00 AM Monday
* On-call response time of 30 minutes required
* Call rotation occurs once every 4-6 weekday shifts and once every 4-6 weekend shifts dependent on sonographer availability
* Holiday call requirements apply
* Work with department equipment including 3 Philips Epics and 2 Philips IE 33s
* Cardiologist available in-house during business hours and on-call during non-business hours
* Scrubs required; department provides scrubs though personal scrubs are acceptable with no required specific color
* Required certifications: BLS, RDCS with Adult Echocardiography (AE) or RCS
* Must have experience performing adult TTEs and TEEs
* Preferred but not mandatory: experience with stress echocardiograms, dobutamine stress echocardiograms, and pediatric echocardiograms

Facility:

This acute care facility houses a dedicated Heart Center where all invasive and non-invasive cardiac exams are performed. The echo department features 5 ultrasound machines, 3 outpatient rooms, and serves both inpatient and outpatient populations. The department is supported by a lead sonographer who manages scheduling and a cardiologist who is available in-house during business hours and on-call during non-business hours.
