Job Details:

* Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
* Must have experience with both pediatric and adult patients (approximately 50% of patient population is pediatric)
* Experience in triage required
* For Peds ER placement, significant pediatric ER experience required, not just general experience
* 12-hour shifts available: 7:00 AM?7:00 PM, 11:00 AM?11:00 PM, 3:00 PM?3:00 AM, and 7:00 PM?7:00 AM
* No block scheduling; traveler must be flexible with scheduling
* Mid shifts (3:00 PM start) are first to float
* 4 weekend shifts required per month (can be 1 per week or 2 every other week)
* Expected to work holidays unless holiday falls during contracted time off
* No on-call requirement, but may be placed on standby for low census with a 30-minute response time if called in
* No floating outside of the ER
* Will be required to float to Pediatric ER
* Adult ER has 36 treatment areas; Pediatric ER has 12 treatment areas plus 8 pods for fast track area
* Fast track area operated out of lobby; staffed by midlevels from 11:00 AM?1:00 PM
* Patient ratios: ICU 1:2, Pediatric 1:4, Adult 1:4, procedural sedation 1:1
* Approximately 325 visits per day across both ERs
* Common diagnoses include minor walk-ins to critically ill patients: respiratory failure, asthma, abdominal pain, fractures, substance abuse, and psych holds
* Adult ER serves as a STEMI, CVA, and burn receiving center; Pediatric ER is a receiving center for pediatric patients
* Charting system: Cerner
* Phillips telemetry with monitor tech on unit
* Phlebotomy team handles blood draws
* Basic EKG interpretation test assigned during orientation; critical care RNs will have additional testing including STEMI and Procedural Sedation curricula
* Dress code: Navy blue scrubs for RNs; no hoodies, sweatshirts, or sweat jackets permitted
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), PALS, NIHSS
* Duos not accepted; no first-time travelers

Facility:

This acute care facility operates a high-volume emergency department with both adult and pediatric emergency services, handling approximately 325 visits per day across two emergency departments. The facility serves as a receiving center for STEMI, CVA, burn, and pediatric cases, and features a fast track area, in-house security, and a full complement of support staff including ER techs, CNAs, LVNs, and dedicated monitor technicians. The emergency department is equipped with Phillips telemetry, Cerner electronic medical records, respiratory therapy equipment including vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow, and is supported by ED physicians and midlevel providers.
