Opportunity:
Pharmacist
Job Details:
* Varying shift schedule with possible hours including 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM, and/or 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM
* Full-time position
* Every other weekend requirement consisting of 2 x 10-hour shifts
* No on-call requirement
* No floating requirement
* Dress code: Pewter scrubs
* Prepare and dispense drug orders per physician request according to established policies, procedures, and protocols
* Interpret drug orders (verbal and written) and transcribe/verify into computerized patient medication record accurately
* Compound and dispense pharmaceuticals including non-sterile and sterile products, chemotherapy, and parenteral nutrition products
* Issue controlled substances to patient care areas and maintain records as required by law and institutional policies
* Supervise and direct pharmacy support personnel and verify daily activities of pharmacy technicians
* Monitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, allergies, and appropriateness of drug and dose
* Assist with pharmacokinetics consult service and renal drug dosing per hospital protocol
* Detect and report suspected adverse drug reactions accurately and in a timely manner
* Provide clinical consultation, drug information, and drug education to patients, families, and professional staff
* Participate in antibiotic stewardship, opioid stewardship, and shortage management activities
* Attend interdisciplinary rounds when assigned
* Participate in quality improvement and medication use review activities
* Graduate of an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree (preferred) or BS Pharmacy degree (accepted) required
* Louisiana state pharmacy license required
* Pharmacy registration in the state of practice required
* BLS or ACLS via AHA required
* Hospital experience preferred
