Opportunity:

RN - Case Management

Job Details:

* Active Alaska nursing license required at time of submission
* Minimum 3 years of recent inpatient care coordination and discharge planning experience required
* 8 years of total clinical care or nursing experience required, with 3 years in chart review, risk management, or related quality service
* Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required
* Case Management certification by a recognized certifying organization (NCQA, CCMC) preferred
* Manage patient progression of care, promote evidence-based protocols, and ensure appropriateness of interventions for admitted patients
* Direct patient care services to ensure timely and appropriate patient discharge
* Review patient records and evaluate patient progress through continuing review of hospitalizations
* Monitor necessity and appropriateness of hospitalization, length of stay, and quality of care
* Obtain and review medical reports and treatment plans as requested by regulatory agencies or payers
* Collaborate with physicians and clinical care team to ensure adherence to UM/CM/DCP plans
* Provide appropriate information to patients and families regarding healthcare benefits
* Facilitate educational programs and advise physicians and departments on regulations affecting UM/CM/DCP
* Ensure documentation supports utilization management functions and communicates with payers within required timeframes
* Process appeals of denials and respond to complaints per UM review guidelines
* Maintain utilization review and appeal logs
* Perform tumor registry functions
* Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and concepts of disease required
* Knowledge of basic ICD-9 and CPT coding required
* Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid regulations required
* Strong written, oral communication, and organizational skills required
* Must reside at least 100 miles away from the facility
