PCU RN - 5N

Job Details:

* 12-hour shifts available for both days (7:00 AM - 7:30 AM) and nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
* Night shift schedule with every other weekend and holiday requirement
* Every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday weekend requirement
* Typically 2-3 holidays required during winter, otherwise every other holiday
* No on-call or standby requirement
* Self-scheduling with manager balancing, opens 6 weeks in advance
* 28-bed unit with a neuro focus
* Nurse-to-patient ratios: Days 1:4-5, Nights 1:5-6 dependent on acuity
* Nurse aide support available: Days 1:9, Nights 1:12
* Minimum 2 years of MS, PCU, or ICU experience required with experience in setting within the last 1 year
* Must have drip experience including titration of Heparin, Nitro, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, 3%, and Insulin
* Tracheostomy and ventilator experience highly preferred; willing to train on vents but RN must be open to learning
* Open to first-time travelers
* Common diagnoses include strokes, seizures, Guillain-Barr?, Myasthenia Gravis, spinal injuries, thrombectomies, TNK/TPA 24 hours post, AMS, dementia, trauma ortho injuries, hematomas, bleeds, and MVA accidents
* RT equipment includes vents, trachs, CPAP, BiPAP, Vapotherm, and EtCO2
* Central monitoring located in a different area
* Floating required to sister MS units across 6 different specialties including mixed care, cardiac, general, MS ortho, and heme/onc
* Any solid color scrubs required
* Orientation consists of 1 shift of general orientation and 1 shift with a preceptor
* Charting system: Cerner
* Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS

The unit operates with a strong neuro focus, supporting complex patient populations including stroke, spinal injuries, and neurological specialties. The facility provides comprehensive support services including respiratory therapy, telemetry monitoring, and a collaborative care team environment across multiple specialized units.
