RN - Mother Baby
Job Details:
* Day shifts available from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM and night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
* Weekend rotation required every other or every third weekend
* On-call is voluntary only
* Holiday requirement of at least one winter holiday and one summer holiday with no blackout dates
* RTO up to 7 days
* 6-week schedule cycle released 2 weeks prior or sooner; holiday schedule released 12 weeks in advance
* Minimum 1 year of Mother-Baby/Postpartum experience and at least 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse required
* First-time travelers are accepted
* Patient population includes postpartum and low-risk antepartum patients
* Patient ratio of 1:3-4 antepartum or couplets
* Required certifications: BLS, NRP; EFM preferred
* EPIC EMR experience preferred
* Must be proficient in breastfeeding assistance and newborn care including vital signs, thermoregulation, managing hypoglycemia, bilirubin levels, and NAS babies
* Newborn lab and phlebotomy skills and adult IV skills preferred, along with experience in PKU testing
* Must be able to independently care for 3-4 couplets, provide discharge teaching, vaccinate neonates, and perform thorough assessments and reassessments for mothers and babies
* Must be able to perform fundal checks on postpartum patients
* Equipment used includes Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing system
* May float to Labor and Delivery, NICU (NAS and feeder growers), and voluntarily to med-surg
* Orientation includes 3 shifts with preceptors; night shift orientation consists of 1 day shift and 2 night shifts
* Any color scrubs permitted; hospital scrubs required for NICU
* Free parking available in designated areas
Facility:
This facility is a 23-bed unit offering a team-oriented and positive work environment with strong staff retention. The unit is supported around the clock by hospitalists, OB physicians, anesthesia, and respiratory therapy. Additional support includes charge nurses, lactation nurses, phlebotomy services, and receptionist/HUC coverage, creating a well-resourced environment for both staff and patients.
