Job Details:

* 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
* Mid-shift options available: 11:00 AM - 11:00 PM and 12:00 PM - 12:00 AM
* Every 3rd weekend requirement
* 2 holidays per year required (1 winter, 1 summer) with Easter on its own rotation
* No on-call or standby requirement
* Floating limited to pediatric ED only - no floating to inpatient units
* Navy scrubs required
* 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
* 1-2 days of unit orientation before functioning independently
* Pass/fail open book exam during orientation - must score 90% or higher to pass
* Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
* Driver's license required at submittal
* Candidate must reside more than 50 miles from facility
* ED experience required
* Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS, PALS (AHA), TNCC
* ENPC and NRP certifications are a bonus
* Charting system: MEDITECH; also uses Epic
* Nurse draw required for 95% of orders
* Responsible for reading cardiac monitor strips at the nurses station
* ED RNs and ED Techs complete EKGs
* Common diagnoses include abdominal pain, nausea/vomiting/diarrhea, chest pain, sepsis, CVA rule out, and fall-related injury and trauma

Facility:

This acute care facility features a 33-bed emergency and trauma department, including 25 adult beds and 8 pediatric beds, along with 2 dedicated trauma bays serving both adult and pediatric patients. The department sees approximately 70 to 85 patients daily and is supported by in-house security, charge nurses, and house supervisors. The facility is equipped with full cardiac monitoring capabilities in all rooms and offers respiratory therapy support including ventilator, CPAP, BiPAP, and heated high-flow services.
