Opportunity:
Office Assistant/Clerk
Job Details:
* Monday through Friday schedule from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
* 13-week contract assignment
* Local position
* High school diploma or GED required
* EPIC experience required
* Prior administrative experience required, including patient appointments and surgical scheduling
* Greet and direct patients, visitors, vendors, and staff to appropriate departments or clinical areas
* Register patients and verify demographic and billing information in accordance with Meaningful Use guidelines
* Check in all patients in the EHR per practice guidelines
* Schedule office appointments per practice scheduling guidelines and manage task list in EHR daily
* Answer telephone calls promptly, determine caller needs, schedule or change appointments, and distribute messages to appropriate parties
* Accept and process cash, check, and credit card payments from patients at time of visit
* Reconcile daily copayment batches, prepare patient referrals for billing, and dispense change as needed
* Contact billing for immediate insurance verification for walk-in patients or those with insurance changes
* Scan insurance cards and photo IDs into the EHR to comply with practice guidelines and Red Flag policy
* Verify Medicaid status and obtain UT authorizations when necessary
* Arrange patient transportation as needed per established guidelines
* Sort and distribute incoming mail and complete routine practice forms, records, and reports
* Type and send letters for no-show, cancelled, referred, and bumped appointments
* Address cancelled appointments and follow up per practice policy
* Assist in training new practice staff with the patient check-in process
* Maintain patient confidentiality and handle all sensitive information with discretion
* Maintain a safe and clean environment and demonstrate commitment to service excellence
