RN - Stepdown/MedSurg

Job Details:

* Night shift position from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM (12-hour shifts)
* Every other weekend requirement
* Agency RN positions are posted as weekend positions
* Expected to work approximately half of all recognized holidays
* No call or standby requirement
* Nurse-to-patient ratios: 3:1 for step-down, 6:1 for med-surg floor
* Flex unit serving both floor and step-down patients based on patient and hospital needs
* Diverse patient population with primarily medical diagnoses
* Must be able to handle assignments of up to 6 patients (med-surg) or 3 patients (step-down)
* EPIC experience required; charting system is EPIC
* RNs will titrate drips per written orders; common drips include heparin, insulin, anti-hypertensives, antiarrhythmics, phenobarbital, ketamine, morphine/dilaudid/fentanyl PCAs, and TPN
* Respiratory equipment includes CPAP and BiPAP on floor and step-down; HiFlow and vents in step-down (patients requiring vent setting adjustments are transferred to ICU)
* Remote telemetry surveillance center available; RNs are not required to read their own strips; Philips telemetry monitoring equipment used
* Clinical Associates (nurse aides) on unit with a goal ratio of 1:10
* Charge RNs and House Supervisors available 24/7
* First to float or be pulled to other floor/step-down units
* Dress code: Any combination of royal blue and white scrubs
* Required certification: BLS (AHA)
* BSN not required

Facility:

This acute care facility features a 29-bed step-down/med-surg flex unit currently under construction, with all beds expected to be step-down equipped upon opening in the first quarter of 2026. The unit is supported by charge RNs and House Supervisors available around the clock, a remote telemetry surveillance center, and central monitoring on the unit. The facility is committed to providing high-quality patient care through strong staffing ratios and comprehensive support resources.
