Job Details:

* 13-week assignment
* Variable shift schedule, 3x12 hours per week
* Variable shift times include: 7:00 AM?7:00 PM, 8:00 AM?8:00 PM, 9:00 AM?9:00 PM, 10:00 AM?10:00 PM, and 11:00 AM?11:00 PM
* Guaranteed 60 hours per 2-week period; traveler may be called off for one 12-hour shift per 2-week period
* On-call required: 1 call shift per week (approximately 6 calls per 8-week period)
* Call shifts are primarily overnight (10:30 PM?7:00 AM); all nurses must choose either one Saturday night or one Sunday night call shift
* Day shift call shifts are available on a limited basis; nurses may choose only one Sunday 6:30 AM?7:00 PM or one Sunday 10:00 AM?7:00 PM call shift
* Must be at the hospital within 30 minutes of being called; call sleep rooms are available on site
* Weekend coverage is on-call only; number of weekend shifts varies
* Patient ratio is 2:1 for days, nights, and weekends
* Block scheduling is not available
* Candidate's permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility
* Minimum 1 year of experience required
* Pediatric experience preferred
* Trauma Level II experience preferred
* Epic charting system experience preferred
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS
* Required skills include: Phase I PACU, arterial line management, dysrhythmia recognition/management, blood product administration, central line care/management, IV vasopressors, narcotics/opioid analgesics, reversal agents, external ventricular drain (EVD), ICP monitoring, care of ventilated patient, conscious sedation, post-epidural management, malignant hyperthermia protocol, pain assessment and management, PCA pump management, RASS, and experience with general, local, MAC, nerve blocks, and spinal anesthesia types
* Surgical specialties include: bariatrics, ENT, general, GYN, neuro, ophthalmology, ortho, vascular, and pediatric PACU
* Patient age groups include: neonates, infants, adolescents, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics
* Scrubs are provided by the facility
* Charting system: Epic
* Parking is free
* May float to like units within skillset to meet facility needs
* Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
* All RTO must be requested upfront at time of submittal

Facility:

This facility is a 407-bed acute care hospital recognized as a Magnet facility, Level II Trauma Center, and a U.S. News & World Report Best Hospital in Alaska. The unit consists of 16 PACU beds with a daily census of approximately 40 patients. Interdisciplinary support services include IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, lift teams, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and a unit secretary.
