RN - Emergency Department
Job Details:
* Level III Trauma Center with 375 licensed beds and 46 ED beds including 5 safe psychiatric rooms and a Fast Track area
* Average of 200 patients per day
* Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
* First-time travelers are welcome
* Patient types range from pediatrics to geriatrics including trauma, GSW, sepsis, STEMI, stroke, DKA, mental health, respiratory issues, adult psych, and high acuity medical cases
* High geriatric population with frequent falls and STEMI cases
* Small pediatric volume with general transfers to a children's facility
* Day shift patient ratio of 1:4-5 with ability to flex based on acuity and staffing
* Available shifts: Days/Mids starting at 0700 or 1100; Mids/Nights starting at 1500 or 1900
* Likely to work a week at a time on a consistent shift, subject to change
* Schedule provided 3 weeks at a time, received approximately 10 days prior to start
* Weekend scheduling will vary depending on unit needs
* Holiday expectations: 2 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
* No on-call requirements
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, CPI/MOAB
* Required skills: Cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV skills, procedural sedation, blood administration, cardiac medications, and basic ED knowledge of drips and medication administration
* TNK administration preferred
* Recent Epic experience required
* Charting and equipment: Epic, Alaris, Pyxis, central and bedside telemetry monitoring at nursing station
* Traveler Telemetry Competency must be completed and passed prior to start
* Scrub color: Any professional scrub colors accepted
* Modest piercings (studs only) and non-offensive tattoos permitted

This Level III Trauma Center is a well-equipped emergency facility with 375 licensed beds and a dedicated 46-bed emergency department, including specialized psychiatric safety rooms and a Fast Track area. The facility provides comprehensive 24/7 support services including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, social work, security, house supervision, and dedicated ED educators. The emergency department is supported by ER techs, charge nurses, and resource/float nurses, creating a strong team-based environment that is welcoming to travel professionals.
