Opportunity:

Critical Care ICU

Job Details:

* Provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients in an ICU/CCU setting based on scientific nursing principles
* Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans
* Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medications via oral, subcutaneous, and IV routes; report adverse reactions in accordance with policy
* Provide basic bedside care and initiate patient education plans as prescribed by physician
* Teach patients and family members how to manage illness or injury including post-treatment home care, diet and nutrition, exercise, self-administration of medication, and rehabilitation
* Record patient medical information and vital signs accurately and in a timely manner
* Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient conditions
* Take samples for lab work, order prescribed lab work, and evaluate and interpret lab reports
* Prepare equipment and assist physician during examination and treatment
* Respond to life-saving situations based on nursing standards and protocol
* Apply hemodynamic, phlebotomy, and IV protocols
* Monitor and adjust specialized equipment including cardiac monitors, respirators, ventilators, oxygen pumps, and interpret electronic displays such as central venous pressures, pulmonary artery pressures, and cardiac rhythms
* Monitor catheters, leads, and tubing for proper placement and functioning
* Initiate corrective action when monitoring or life support equipment displays adverse symptomatology
* Valid BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association required
* Valid professional nursing license within the state of practice or nurse licensure compact required
* Critical care experience in a hospital setting required
