Sterile Processing Technician

Job Details:

* Rotating weekends required, every 4th weekend
* On-call and holiday coverage required on a rotating basis
* Minimum 1 year of sterile processing experience required
* High school diploma or equivalent required
* Required certifications: CRCST or CBSPD, IAHCSMM/HSPA, BLS
* Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and push/pull carts
* Must be able to tolerate prolonged standing
* Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills including phone etiquette
* Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations and be computer literate
* Must be able to work effectively in a team environment
* Knowledge and understanding of ANSI/AAMI, AORN, and Title 22 standards required
* Tracking system knowledge preferred; experience with any charting system accepted
* Skills required include: acute hospital OR, cleaning equipment (crash carts, IV pumps, PCA pumps), high-level disinfection, use of washers/sterilizers, case cart management, proper selection of wrapping materials, sterilization wrapping procedures, sets/tray assembly, and equipment documentation
* Specialty area experience required: Ear/Nose/Throat, General, OB/GYN, Orthopedics, Plastics, and Urology
* Experience with biological indicators, chemical indicators, steam sterilization testing/monitoring, and immediate-use steam sterilization (IUSS) required
* Strict dress code enforced: no facial hair, no acrylic nails, no unnatural hair colors, all tattoos must be covered, no visible body piercings other than earrings, no facial or nose rings, and earrings may not extend beyond the earlobe or be hoop earrings
