Job Details:

* Minimum of 3-5 years of experience required; 5 years of high-risk experience preferred
* High-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery unit with all types of deliveries
* Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
* Must function in the role of Baby Nurse during delivery and continue care of the newborn until transfer to postpartum
* Must be able to circulate for C-sections
* Must be able to provide newborn care including eyes, Vitamin K injections, thigh injections, and newborn assessments
* Administer and manage Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate
* Float required to Postpartum and Antepartum units; may float to sister facilities for Mother/Baby
* Work every other weekend and holidays as needed
* Schedule posted every 6 weeks to meet unit needs
* Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
* Average daily census of 15 patients; 500-600 deliveries per month
* Unit has 31 rooms and 31 beds with 4 operating rooms
* Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
* Epic EMR experience required; electronic fetal monitoring experience required
* Patient age groups include neonates, infants, adolescents, and geriatrics
* Patient ratio experience of 1:2 required
* Required certifications: BLS, NRP
* Preferred certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate
* Required skills include: amnioinfusion, anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, APGAR scores, assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, cesarean section, circulating for C-section, couplet care, epidural anesthesia, Foley catheter insertion and management, hemorrhage and shock management, high-risk antepartum care, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate therapy, neonatal resuscitation, newborn assessment, Pitocin administration, postpartum hemorrhage management, and external fetal monitoring
* Compact nursing license must be in hand at time of submission
* 2 supervisory references required covering 1 year within the last 3 years

Facility:

This facility is a high-volume, high-risk Labor & Delivery unit operating within a large health system that supports a wide range of obstetric patients, including midwifery clients, private OB patients, and those receiving community care services. The unit is equipped with 4 operating rooms and 31 patient rooms, providing comprehensive interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, social services, rapid response teams, and interpretation services. Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines and the facility utilizes Epic for electronic health records and fetal monitoring.
